16357889The American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) certification exam is a professional qualification held by physicians who have completed training at an internal medicine program in the United States. The qualification exam is given at the conclusion of internal medicine residency.

The ABIM examination tests a fundamental level of knowledge of the basic sciences and clinical medicine, and requires detailed knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, clinical conditions, and diagnostic acumen.

Fundamental principles of medicine along with working knowledge of various medical specialties such as cardiology, neurology, pediatrics, critical care, nephrology, and infectious disease. Basic communication skills and medical ethics are also tested.
